Rockwell Versacut Saw

Rockwell Versacut Saw

Rockwell's Versacut mini circular saw is compact and balanced, powerful, precise and easy to manage.Unlike conventional circular saws with retractable blade guards, the Versacut saw can be used with one hand because its inner and outer blade guard design isolates the blade, keeping it away from the user. Plus, the saw's base plate provides a clear view of where the blade intersects the work material. Versacut excels as a one-handed, compact trim saw by delivering quick and precise cuts, even plunge cuts, in a variety of materials.

With a 3-3/8 in. diameter blade and a maximum depth of cut of 1-1/16-in., the versatile compact saw weighs only 4 pounds. Changing blades is easy. All the user needs to do is loosen the blade screw with the key that is provided. Versacut's circular body has a concave midsection with an overmold comfort grip for one-handed operation.

The motor is located in the rear of the tool, which perfectly balances the cutting head. The saw is even equipped with a Laserguide line that follows the path of the blade and provides a point of reference when cutting. The laser also has a separate on/off switch, located on the tool’s body. An easy-to-set depth-of-cut knob raises and lowers the blade in 1/8-in. increments.

Constructed of high-impact ABS, the single-speed, 4-amp saw has a no-load speed of 3500 rpm. The trigger with lock-off switch is conveniently located beneath the barrel of the saw. In addition, the Versacut saw has a dust extraction port to help clear the work area and a parallel edge guide clamp to set up accurate rip cuts.

The 7-pc. Versacut kit includes a fast-cut, 24-tooth, carbide-tipped blade (RW9231, $14.99), one smooth-cutting, 44-tooth, high-speed-steel blade (RW9229, $10.99), one Diamond tile cutting blade (RW9228, $16.99), a no-mar base plate cover, parallel edge guide, a vacuum adapter, and carrying bag. A 3-pc. blade set (RW9232K, $39.99) also is available.

To expand the saw’s versatility, Rockwell offers an optional Miter Station (RW9246, $79.99) to facilitate accurate cross-cuts, angle, bevel and rip cuts in wood, aluminum sheets, laminates, parquet, flooring, baseboards, trim, and more.

Versacut Miter Station
The new Rockwell Versacut Miter Station provides setup options for cutting all kinds of work materials. Designed exclusively for the Rockwell Versacut Saw, the add-on accessory has features typically found on most benchtop miter saws, such as the ability to make 90° crosscuts and many common miter and bevel cuts.

The Miter Station base includes a track saw guide that cradles the Versacut Saw to make precise cuts.
Constructed of composite material, the base measures 13 in. x 36 in. The base is easy to assemble and store when not in use. Its maximum cutting length for cross-cuts is 13 in. in materials up to 7/8 in. thick. The maximum cutting length for bevel cuts at 45º is 6 in. in materials up to 3/4 in. thick.

The Rockwell Versacut Saw (RK3440K, $129.99), and Rockwell Versacut Miter Station (RW9246, $79.99) are expected to be available in April 2011.
