New SP14F Anchor System by Asphalt Anchor Group

Asphalt Anchors Group, A Division of Designated Parking Corp. has developed a family of anchors designed specifically for mounting plates and devices to asphalt.Asphalt is a common surface for roads and parking lots. Unfortunately asphalt is a relatively weak when it comes to anchoring structures to it. This presents a challenge when trying to solidly mount barriers and a wide variety of other devices to this surface.

Asphalt Anchors Group, A Division of Designated Parking Corp. has developed a family of anchors designed specifically for mounting plates and devices to asphalt. The anchors require only a relatively small hole to be drilled in the asphalt, and thus do very little damage to its surface. Unlike with common hammer-in spikes, the attached structures can be removed and reinstalled at will without disturbing the anchors.

"These new anchors are a sturdy, reliable and cost-effective method of securing structures into asphalt, while also allowing the removal of the structures and their re-installation without disturbing the anchors in the ground," said Designated Parking Corp. President Dori Teich. "Once you sink the anchors, they stay put," he continued.

The SP14F anchor is provided with internal 3/8" thread to receive mounting bolts. This anchor is installed flush to the surface, so that the attached plates or structures can be removed without leaving dangerous protrusions on the ground surface. The MSP14 anchor has a 1 1/2 " long 3/8" male thread for applications where a bolt-and-nut mounting is required. A metric anchor with 8 mm internal thread (SP14) is also available. All anchors are 14" long and 5/8" in diameter to provide significant shear (sideways) and pull resistance. The anchors are best used in conjunction with grout or adhesive that is applied to the hole before driving the anchors. The adhesive bonds with the scales on the anchor and with the asphalt, gravel and sand underneath, to present a large resistance to pull. Typical pull out resistance values exceed 600 lb. when used with the recommended grout.

The anchors are available in packages of seven, at a retail cost of $45 or $48 per package. Adhesive cost is less than $1 per anchor. No special tools are required to set up these fasteners.
