Tom’s Secret Formula line from Camie-Campbell now includes non-aerosol trigger spray biodegradable lubricants
Camie-Campbell recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of Earth Day by announcing the continued success of their industry leading line of green products, as well as the introduction of the Tom’s Secret Formula line of Non-Aerosol Trigger Spray lubricants. Since launching the full aerosol line in 2008 at the National Hardware Show, Tom’s Secret Formula has managed to grow from the U.S. to Canada.
In the past two years, many other products like Tom’s Secret Formula have been introduced to the market, but they do not have the same proven positive test results. Tom’s Secret Formula has been rated No. 1 by independent testing and was also recently evaluated by the Handyman Club of America, receiving a 93 percent overall approval rating.
“Our company is environmentally conscious in everything we do, but we created our Tom’s Secret Formula line because we saw a need for products that help preserve the environment, and now we’ve added a new feature: the Non-Aerosol Trigger Spray,” said Mike Polizzi, National Sales Manager of Tom’s Secret Formula. “Creating an earth-friendly alternative to our Camie brand was an easy way to give back and keep both our users and the environment safe from harsh chemicals. We are very focused on environmental issues and the solutions we can provide in the industrial and hardware retail markets.”
The Tom’s Secret Formula line includes B-404, a high performance all-purpose lubricant, Garage Door Lubricant and Truckers’ Lubricant, a mechanical lubricant. All three products provide an earth-friendly alternative to traditional all-purpose and mechanical lubricants. Each is formulated with natural vegetable oils and has a variety of functions.
- B-404 is an all-purpose lubricant that is safe for all types of metal. It clings to surfaces and does not evaporate, which enables B-404 to provide a longer lasting effect compared to traditional petroleum based lubricants. In addition, it is an excellent tool for loosening rusted or frozen bolts and nuts.
- Garage Door Lubricant, which has commercial and residential uses, surpasses the lubricity and performance of traditional garage door lubricants.
- Truckers’ Lubricant is a high performance mechanical lubricant specialized to cling to surfaces, reducing waste and clean up. It has a variety of uses from hinge pins, to tracks and rollers for roll-up doors, to cargo load docks.
All three products will be available in their Non-Aerosol Trigger Spray variations. From an environmental standpoint, the Trigger Spray products have zero VOC content. In regard to safety, the design of the new product eliminates the flammability and contents under pressure hazards. In addition, the recyclable steel cans allow for easy disposal because the product is not bound to strict aerosol disposal regulations.
CHLOR*RID Protects Steel from Salt Corrosion
Salt corrosion coatings failures cost an estimated $6 Billion per year.
The U.S. Federal Highway Administration estimates that the annual cost of steel coatings failures caused by salt corrosion is over $6 billion. A large portion of that money can be saved with proper surface cleanliness prior to coating using Chlor*Rid soluble salt testing and removal products. With proper salt removal, coatings are more able to last their intended lifespan, preventing costly corrosion and rust damage.
Steel must be coated to protect it against corrosion. Coatings perform best when applied to a salt-free, clean surface, since all coatings and paints are formulated to be applied to a contaminant-free surface. If the steel is coated with salts remaining, there will be corrosion and premature failure of the coating. Left unchecked, salt contamination corrodes deep into the substrate, making decontamination even more urgent and challenging. “Clean uncontaminated steel will not rust, even in 100% humidity, for thousands of hours,” said Gerald Stoltz, National Shipbuilding Research Program.
Chlor*Rid has developed two salt testing kits, the Chlor*Ion Meter, a patent-pending hand-held digital testing device that electronically measures chloride with an internal ion specific electrode for accurate worry-free testing (available Q2 2010) and Chlor*Test, a complete and easy to use system that lets even the least experienced inspector get accurate results.
Once tested, the Chlor*Rid salt removal product is then applied to remove salts. Chlor*Rid is the easiest, least expensive, and fastest way to remove salts. Organic, non-hazardous and bio-degradable, Chlor*Rid is added to water and then applied to surfaces to flush out all destructive salts.
Steel industries requiring salt removal prior to coating:
- Auto manufacturers perform procedures to body parts prior to coating to remove any salts.
- Pipelines run steel pipe through an acid bath, followed by a rinse, before applying protective coatings.
- Job shops that manufacture products, from window crank parts to fuel pump springs, perform procedures to remove salts from steel parts.
- Coil steel, used for everything from computer cases to metal roofing, run through procedures to remove salts.
- Bridge, rail car, water tank, and power plants industries are now finding out that they need to address salts on steel.

WD-40 Company introduces WD-40 Trigger Pro – a non-aerosol product with the same WD-40 formula – to better meet the needs of its industrial end-users.
The latest innovative delivery system in the WD-40 brand product line, WD-40 Trigger Pro features an easy-to-hold ergonomic can and a multi-action nozzle that allows users to spray WD-40 as a wide spray or stream – with no overspray or leaking. Designed for on-the-job versatility, its trigger format gives WD-40 users more control – a few drips at a time for drilling and cutting, or more for spraying down large surface areas. The product is also easy to dispose of, due to its non-aerosol format and recyclable steel packaging.

RIDGID Endura-Clear Thread Cutting Oil Maximizes Wear Resistance Increasing Die Life
Endura-Clear thread cutting oil, the newest addition in the RIDGID thread cutting oil product line, maximizes wear resistance, increases die life, decreases operating costs and is CPVC compatible.
“Endura-Clear thread oil is a great addition to our product line because it extends the life of dies up to 60 percent, while significantly reducing threading machine operating costs up to 30 percent over the RIDGID Nu-Clear oil,” said Larry Feskanich, product manager, RIDGID.
The formula has been tested to assure chemical compatibility with FlowGuard Gold, BlazeMaster, and Corzan CPVC pipe and fittings and has been added to the FGG/BM/CZ System Compatible Program. Endura-Clear thread oil contains an anti-mist formulation to inhibit inhalation and decrease mess.
It maintains a workable viscosity for cold weather threading to negative 20 degrees Fahrenheit and is available in a one-gallon size.
Designed for hand threading and high speed machine threading, the RIDGID thread cutting oils allow users to produce effective threads in a variety of materials. The improved RIDGID threading fluids are mineral oil-based and do not contain any chlorine, halogens, PCBs, or heavy metals. The formulations effectively reduce friction and extend the life of the dies.
Aervoe Industries Speed Galvanize
Aervoe Industries, Inc. has introduced Speed Galvanize to their line of galvanizing aerosol products.
Speed Galvanize is a cost effective zinc spray coating that imparts temporary zinc protection in the welding process from fabrication, to maintenance, and repair.
One coat will furnish short-term corrosion protection in pre-fabrication and the weld-through process including cut, drill, and spot-weld activity.
May be used as a post process metallic primer plus protection for incomplete work. Multiple coats (3) will give you a dry-film thickness of about 1-mil of zinc for extended protection.
Speed Galvanize uses metallic zinc dust that is 97% pure and the dry film contains 93% zinc.
