Bluestone Lighting induction-charged LED Flashlight
Bluestone Lighting Introduces the Industry's First LED Flashlight to Utilize an Induction Recharging System.
Bluestone Lighting has announced the introduction of the InCharge, an LED flashlight that features an innovative "drop-in" cradle-based induction recharging system. This unique recharging system eliminates the need to directly connect the body of the flashlight to a charging source. The InCharge stands at the ready in its recharging cradle -- simply lift the unit out of its cradle to use, then return the unit to its cradle for recharging.
"The InCharge makes it easy to always keep your flashlight charged," notes Oscar Kourany, Product Manager for Bluestone Lighting. "There's nothing to plug or unplug...you just grab the light and use it, which makes it a perfect one-hand solution. And with our induction charging technology, there are no contacts to corrode or wear out."
Crafted from machined aircraft grade aluminum, the InCharge's body is anodized to a deep gun-metal green, which is accented by a champagne-toned crenellated bezel, making for a very stylish presentation. Cross-hatching around the entire mid-section of the flashlight body provides a secure grip surface, and a wrist lanyard is also included to help prevent dropping or loss. A custom-made belt holster constructed of ballistic nylon is also available for added portability and convenience.
The InCharge uses an advanced nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery technology in place of the more traditional nickel cadmium (NiCad) battery. As a result, the InCharge is more eco-friendly while avoiding the "battery memory" effect commonly associated with NiCad batteries.
Using the InCharge is simple and intuitive -- all programming functions, including on/off, smooth dimming from 100% to 10%, strobe function, and SOS flashing can be easily activated using a single switch. The entire Bluestone Lighting Professional LED flashlight series offers the ability to focus from floodlight to spotlight (1X-4X) with a simple twist of the flashlight head, and the new InCharge is no exception. An added convenience is an LED charging indicator located on the body of the light. When the light is charging, the indicator glows red, and when fully charged, it glows green -- either way, this indicator makes finding the InCharge a snap when it's resting its cradle in the dark.
Mr. Kourany concludes, "We feel strongly that the InCharge meets real market needs in a way no other flashlight does. Initial response has been outstanding, and we're in the process of pushing the InCharge out into the marketplace in a big way."
The InCharge will be distributed to targeted market segments primarily through selected retailers and specialized catalogs. For additional information on Bluestone Lighting's new InCharge LED flashlight, contact Oscar Kourany, Product Manager, at 888.441.4244, or by email at oscark@bluestonelighting.com.
Larson Magnalight Explosion Proof Fluorescent Lights
Larson Electronis’ Magnalight has expanded its extensive line of explosion proof lighting equipment with the addition of an explosion proof fluorescent light option for hot box applications. The EPL-48-2L-T12HB-SFC Class 1 Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 fluorescent light is based on their popular EPL-48-2L series which is then upgraded with T12-HO fluorescent tubes and a larger magnetic ballast to compensate for higher heat levels.
The addition of T12-HO tubes, larger ballast and other high heat components increases this fixture’s operable temperature range to 165 degrees Celsius. This provides a good option for those needing a UL listed hazardous location fluorescent light fixture capable of operating under elevated temperatures.
The Magnalight EPL-48-2L-T12HB-SFC is based on an EPL-48-2L explosion proof fluorescent light fixture which is then upgraded with the high heat components and magnetic ballast options. The EPL-48-2L fixture is a 4 foot long, 2 lamp, UL listed Class 1 Division 1 & Class 2 Division 1 explosion proof light which is also rated for use in paint spray booth light applications.
These units are constructed with finned, oversized ballast boxes to improve heat dissipation and allow for the installation of larger ballasts to accommodate high output fluorescent tubes and increased operating temperatures. They incorporate extruded aluminum housings and reflectors coated with a high gloss finish for durability, high light output and efficiency. The fluorescent lamps are protected by impact and heat resistant Pyrex tubes. The higher temperature rating reduces expected operating life from 5 to 3 years, but provides a good solution for those requiring hard to find explosion proof fixtures suitable for use in hot box applications.
“We see increasing demand for ‘hot box’ hazardous area applications, where operators are looking for Class 1 Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 explosion proof lights that will operate under high heat applications,” said Rob Bresnahan. “We equip this light with T12 high output lamps and beef up the other components to survive the high heat. The components in this fixture have a life expectancy of 3 years, but there are not many options for high heat applications in hazardous location areas.”
Larson Electronics’ Magnalight.com carries an extensive line of explosion proof lights, hazardous location lights, intrinsically safe lights, portable explosion proof lights and intrinsically safe flashlights. BRUTUS super heavy-duty Pulse Start Metal Halide lamps
Withstand vibration, wind whipping and severe applications.
EYE Lighting, a leading manufacturer of HID lamps based near Cleveland, introduces the BRUTUS family of Pulse Start Metal Halide lamps; the first MH lamp designed with four extra heavy duty braces to prevent weld, electrical and arc-tube failures caused by shock and vibration. Commercial, industrial and utility customers will experience reduced maintenance costs and long lamp life with BRUTUS MH Lamps. EYE has conducted drop-tests, 7G tests, and severe vibration tests and found that Brutus keeps burning while other models fail.
BRUTUS is designed for severe applications such as high mast, bridges, tunnels, parking lots, roadways, roadway construction, prisons, mining, docks and refineries, because standard metal halide lamps often fail in these rough service conditions. For example, in bridge lighting applications, fixtures can be exposed to simultaneous, multiple sources of vibration and shock caused by wind-whipping, heavy truck traffic and train crossing resulting in severe vibration. Customers have become accustomed to short life spans in these applications, but BRUTUS now offers service life typical of standard MH lamps.
BRUTUS is currently available in 250W, 320W, 350W, and 400W models. Patent Pending.

Larson Magnalight Dimmable LED Bulbs
![]() |
![]() |
Larson Electronics' magnalight.com announces two new Buy American Compliant LED bulbs, a dimmable 30 watt PAR38 LED bulb and PAR46 LED bulb.
The 30 Watt LED bulb (LED30W-PAR38) is available in warm white, 6000K bright white, red, blue, green, amber, 850nm infrared and 940nm infrared.
The 40 Watt LED bulb (LED40W-PAR46) is available in 6000K bright white or in the same selection of colors at 12 watts.
The dimmable 30 watt PAR 38 LED bulb can replace any standard PAR 38 incandescent bulb. PAR 38 bulbs are popular as outdoor floodlights, theater lighting and general area lighting in commercial and residential applications.
Available in 120/240 Volts AC or 12/24 volts DC, the LED30W-PAR38 produces as much usable illumination as a 150 watt incandescent PAR 38 while only drawing 1/5th of the current.
The PAR 46 bulb is a 6-inch bulb is commonly used in handheld spotlights, car headlights, Unity post mount spotlights (police car spotlights), aircraft landing lights and all types of commercial trucking and heavy equipment.
The LED40W-PAR46 produces more light at distance than a standard 100 watt incandescent PAR 46 and draws less than 4 amps compared to the nearly 9 amps drawn by a 100 watt PAR 46 on 12 volts.
"Both the PAR 38 LED bulb and the PAR 46 LED bulb are dimmable via PWM (pulse width modulation) or variable voltage," said Rob Bresnahan, with Larson Electronics' magnalight.com. "We produce both bulbs to run on 120/240 Volts AC or 12/24 volts DC and offer a wide range of colors, including infrared 850nm and 940nm. We don't use filters with our LEDs, instead we use the appropriate color chip in the bulb to maximize the light output. Instead of using diffusing filters to create a flood pattern, we produce different optics to control the beam spread. By doing so, the Magnalight LED bulbs optimize the light output and provide a strong alternative to incandescent PAR lamps. There are other LED bulbs out there, but we haven't seen any that offer as high wattage as we do, combined with our deep understanding of optics and maximizing usable light output.
"We use these bulbs in our portable EPL-PM-1X30LED explosion proof LED lights with excellent feedback. The PAR 38 LED bulb significantly outperforms a 120 watt incandescent, but falls about 20% short of a 250 watt incandescent. The PAR 46 LED outperforms a 100 watt incandescent in a Unity police spotlight, but doesn't have as tight a beam. In either case, operators are getting 50,000 life hours between bulb changes and are drawing much less current, while getting a much more vibration proof, weather resistant, durable LED light source."
Larson Electronics' magnalight.com offers an extensive array of LED lighting, ranging from high powered vehicle LED lighting to explosion proof LED lighting for hazardous location areas. In addition to offering T-series replacement LED bulbs, magnalight.com offers the LED7w-E26 standard LED replacement and now the 30 watt PAR38 and 40 watt PAR46 LED bulb. Magnalight.com solar-powered LED area light
![]() |
![]() |
Larson Electronics' magnalight.com announces the SPLED-5 solar-powered area light with rechargeable 12 hour run time battery. The SPLED-5 LED light can be surface mounted or fixed to a pole or rail. The 8-watt solar panel powers a 5-watt LED light that dims and brightens automatically based on an integrated motion detector. An integrated day and night sensor will trigger the light to come on in dim mode once the ambient light reaches a low lumens threshold, like late evening or dusk.
Featuring a motion detector and low light sensor, the SPLED-5 solar powered LED light is designed to provide small area illumination. During daylight hours the 8-watt solar panel recharges the internal lithium ion batteries. At night time, the 5-watt LED solar light will provide 12 hours of low illumination over 200 square feet. Once someone approaches the lit area, the integrated motion detector will increase the intensity of the LED light in the same area.
At high intensity, users can expect 8 hours of illumination. Measuring 16 inches by 13 inches, the solar powered LED light can be surface mounted or attached to a pole or rail.
In high illumination mode, its output easily matches the output from a 175-watt metal halide fixture or a 500-watt incandescent.
"This solar powered, rechargeable LED light is ideal for operators who need a reasonable amount of illumination in areas where access to established electric power is limited or costly to implement," said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics' magnalight.com. "From a commercial standpoint, job site security, remote utility locations and other temporary or low access areas are ideal applications for the SPLED-5 solar powered, rechargeable LED light. Plus, there is the added benefit of high vibration tolerance on no maintenance related to re-lamping. For the consumer, we see similar applications around the home, dock and boat, where utilities are not readily available. Instead of paying an electrician to run wiring and install a light, consumers can simply bolt this light in place and be done with it. There is no wiring to run and no voltage to worry about.
"In our military sector, we see opportunities for mobile security, checkpoint lighting and other areas where it makes sense to quickly install area lighting without the need for technical support. With a list price of $456.00, operators return on investment will be immediate, since the operators don't need to pay an electrical contractor or change bulbs."

IDEAL Term-a-Nut Grounding Connectors
Terminate Wires 3X Faster Than Conventional Pigtailing Techniques
Online Calculator Shows Potential Cost Savings
Term-A-Nut pigtail connectors from IDEAL are field-proven to simplify and improve everyday electrical grounding tasks, while also helping electricians meet strict national and local code requirements. Now an independent third-party testing company has conclusively determined that grounding with Term-A-Nuts is more than three times faster than conventional pigtailing/bonding methods, an advantage translating into significant cost savings.
In timed studies assuming three pigtails per device, the research company found that the traditional technique of pigtailing used by many electricians today averaged 55 seconds per termination. In contrast, the Term-A-Nut method averaged only 17 seconds per termination. These seconds add up: if a contractor is pigtailing five hundred devices on a jobsite at a labor rate of $80 per hour, he would realize an approximate savings of $900 in labor.
To help electricians compute their potential savings, IDEAL has posted on its website an on-line Term-A-Nut Pigtail Savings Calculator. A downloadable version is also available on the Web site in standard Microsoft Excel format.
IDEAL Term-a-Nut connectors allow for fast, hassle-free grounding of steel outlet boxes, enclosures, electrical devices and wiring multiple devices, without crimping or requiring the use of tools. Moreover, the connectors can be easily removed for changes and for repeat usage. Design features include heavy duty, solid brass terminals; unique thread-forming ground screws with combination hex, Phillips and slotted heads; and ultra flexible leads. The connectors handle 18 to 12 AWG solid or stranded wire and cover a wide range of wire combinations. Term-a-Nut connectors are UL and CUL listed.
