Simpson Strong-Tie To Showcase Brace Connection, Resilient Building Systems at 2024 NASCC Steel Conference

NASCC: The Steel Conference is set for March 20–22 in San Antonio, Texas.

Simpson Strong-Tie®, the leader in engineered structural connectors and building solutions, will feature several structural steel innovations at this year’s NASCC: The Steel Conference, March 20–22 in San Antonio, Texas. A premier event for those involved in the design and construction of steel buildings and bridges, The Steel Conference combines 250+ educational sessions, an exhibit hall featuring with more than 300 product innovations, and networking opportunities with some of the world's best designers, fabricators, erectors, and more.

Exhibiting this year at Booth 1215 of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Simpson Storng-Tie will showcase product innovations and building solutions designed to enhance buildings’ resiliency. One of the company’s newest innovations, the Yield-Link® Brace Connection (YLBC) for structural steel applications dissipates energy through a fuse connection, creating a resilient steel frame that protects beams, columns, and braces during seismic and wind events. The YLBC requires no field-welding, helping to reduce testing and inspection costs, and is designed for simple incorporation into either new construction or retrofits.

The YLBC works seamlessly with the Yield-Link Moment Connection and the Edge-Tie™ System. Like the YLBC, the one-piece Yield-Link Moment Connection requires no onsite welding. The Yield-Link connections are designed to absorb damage and are easy to replace, allowing for less costly repairs and shorter recovery times after significant seismic and high-wind events.

The Edge-Tie system is designed to replace field-welded bent plate pour stops with a high-strength, straight-edge, channeled steel beam that accepts bolted connections to facilitate easy cladding installations without the need for field-welding. It comes in long lengths, easily cut to fit for steel buildings of any size. An optional reusable guardrail attachment is available.

The Yield-Link Brace Connection, Yield-Link moment connection, and Edge-Tie system are part of Simpson Strong-Tie’s growing suite of structural steel construction solutions designed to simplify design and installation while enhancing building strength and resilience.
