Rockford Systems adds OSHA-authorized safety courses

New courses include 10- and 30-hour general industry safety and hazard communication training.

Rockford Systems, LLC. announced today an expansion of its machine safeguarding curriculum to include new training courses authorized by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), which will aim to increase worker knowledge about their rights, employer responsibilities, and how to recognize, abate and prevent machinery-related hazards.

This broadening of the company's training program will consist of three courses: OSHA 10-Hour General Industry, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, and OSHA 1910.1200 Hazard Communication. All three will be led by Brent Bryden, Safety Instructor for the National Safety Education Center at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. An OSHA Outreach Trainer, Mr. Bryden brings to the classroom more than three decades of manufacturing, environmental, health and safety experience.

Technology advancements in machinery, automation and robotics are moving rapidly. As is the case with many fast-changing industries, a skills gap is emerging in manufacturing where employees do not have enough knowledge to address basic safety issues.

By offering the OSHA-authorized courses, Rockford Systems hopes to bring basic safety awareness to machine operators and a more advanced curriculum to employees with safety responsibilities in their workplace.

The OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Course is intended to provide entry-level general industry workers with information about their rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint. Students will also learn how to identify, abate, avoid and present job-related hazards on a work site. Ten (10) hours of mandatory and optional topics will be covered. Course price is $300 per attendee. Click here to register.

The OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Course is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. Training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention. This course provides a greater depth and variety of training on an expanded list of topics from the 10-hour course. Thirty (30) hours of mandatory and optional topics will be covered. Course price is $800 per attendee. Click here to register.

The OSHA 1910.1200 Hazard Communication Training Course provides OSHA-authorized training on hazardous chemicals in the work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals.

Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and material safety data sheets. Workers are provided with general awareness about recognizing and preventing hazards commonly found in the workplace. Two (2) hours of hazard communication topics will be covered. Course price is $100 per attendee. Click here to register.
