Simpson Strong-Tie aids disaster relief in Ecuador and Texas

Company will donate $25,000 to earthquake and flood relief efforts.

Simpson Strong-Tie has announced it will make a $15,000 donation to assist in relief response and recovery efforts following the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shook Ecuador on April 16. In addition, it will make a $10,000 donation to assist in disaster relief efforts following the severe and widespread flooding in the Houston area that began on April 18.

The Ecuadorian earthquake, which was centered about 16.8 miles southeast of Muisne, shook the northwestern coast of Ecuador and resulted in hundreds of lives lost, thousands injured, and the displacement and homelessness of several thousand people.

Flooding in the Houston area thus far has resulted in seven deaths, the displacement of several hundred people and has caused an estimated $14 million in damage.

The donations will be given to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and will aid in providing food, shelter and other assistance to those affected by these disasters.

“It’s always with great sadness to hear of such devastating news,” said Simpson Strong-Tie CEO Karen Colonias. "We are grateful to have the opportunity to offer aid, and we hope these donations bring some support and comfort to those affected by these disasters.”
