Jack Jahntz, Former President of L.W. Meyer & Son, Dies

Was founding member of STAFDA and association's first president.


One of STAFDA’s founding fathers and its first president, Jack Jahntz, recently passed away peacefully at age 86. One of STAFDA’s founding fathers and its first president, Jack Jahntz, recently passed away peacefully at age 85. Jack, and 17 other distributors, were the charter members of STAFDA, who recognized the need to bring construction distributors and manufacturers together to exchange views, shape policies, and build loyalties. A foundation that STAFDA still adheres to 39 years after its inception.

In addition to his STAFDA involvement, Jack was partner, president, and CEO of L.W. Meyer & Son., Inc., formerly of New Berlin, and now Waukesha, WI. He was with L.W. Meyer from the early 1960s until his retirement in 1996. Prior to L.W. Meyer, he was in sales for Great Western Steel Company.

Jack was active in his church and enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, and spending time with his family.

He leaves behind children and several grandchildren. His son, Chris Jahntz, has been in the construction channel his entire career, currently serving as national sales manager, MAT Industries, LLC., Long Grove, IL.
