Nearly $100 billion worth of petrochemical projects are in the pipeline for the U.S., but a lack of skilled workers could change that.

Peter Cella, CEO of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., said his company has two facilities planned for Texas that could create 10,000 construction and engineering jobs, but noted that a "lack of trained manpower was the most significant barrier facing future chemical projects," according to this article.

"[O]ur most acute need is for welders, pipefitters, riggers, operators, instrument technicians and other craftspersons, all with two-year degrees or certifications," Cella said.
