HD Supply Makes Top 500 Tech List

Earns spot on 2012 InformationWeek 500 list of top technology innovators.

Pick-to-Voice System Improves Fulfillment Accuracy and Productivity in Distribution Centers

HD Supply today announced that it made this year’s InformationWeek 500 for the fourth consecutive year. InformationWeek 500 is an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology.

This year, HD Supply information technology was recognized for the innovative use of a Pick-to-Voice system in 37 nationwide HD Supply Facilities Maintenance distribution centers. Pick-to-Voice uses voice recognition technology integrated with an interactive warehouse control solution, enabling HD Supply associates to quickly and accurately pick customer orders from the warehouse floor.

The system is fully integrated with the company’s SAP ERP operating platform, allowing warehouse team members to communicate, execute and confirm customer order tasks via a simple, voice-controlled process.

“For our customers, the immediate impact has been an increase in the accuracy of fulfilled orders,” explained Brian Monks, vice president of information technology at HD Supply Facilities Maintenance. “Distribution centers have improved productivity by 75 percent.”
