Ericson Manufacturing Wins Gold Healthy Ohio Worksite Award

Healthy Ohio Business Council recognizes Ericson's worksite health promotion and wellness programs.

Director Ted Wymyslo, M. D. of the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and Laura Ritzler, chair of the Healthy Ohio Business Council (HOBC), recognized 34 Ohio businesses for healthy worksite practices during the eighth-annual Healthy Ohio - Healthy Worksite Awards.  A total of 97 companies, cities and townships applied for the 2011 awards which recognized Ohio employers that demonstrated a commitment to employee health through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs.

Ericson rose to the top in the small employer category and was one of the Gold award winners at the ceremony held on January 31, 2012 during the 4th annual Health Action Council Kick-Off Conference.  Kristin Cloonan, Ericson’s Human Resources Manager, was there to accept the award on Ericson’s behalf for all her hard work in maintaining and promoting Ericson’s ongoing commitment to health and wellness in the work place.

“We are very proud of the success we’ve had at Ericson in relation to our health and wellness initiatives,” said Kristin Cloonan, Ericson’s HR Manager. “A healthy work/life balance is an important part of our core values at Ericson. Our employees have embraced the programs and tools that are offered through our health and wellness program and it also provides a strong recruiting tool to attract top talent. The onsite health coach; free gym memberships; personalized online tools and tracking; and healthy food choices at events and meetings are just a few of the employee’s favorites. We have seen a positive return on our investment with the improvement of our employee’s health and well being, along with stabilization in our healthcare costs due to proactive management and employee education. Overall, it’s a win-win situation for everyone!”
