STAFDA Convention Hotel Travel ALERT
Beware of companies offering "STAFDA Convention" hotel rooms at full price.
Contractor Supply's offices received an email today from a company with the subject line: "Stafda Phoenix Nov 7-9.doc." offering hotel rooms for the STAFDA convention.
In the email, the company, listed as Tira International with claimed offices in New Jersey, offers full price, non-discounted rates for several Phoenix area hotels.
STAFDA has negotiated special convention discounts with the follow official event hotels.
- Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, 602-262-2500
- Hyatt Regency, 602-252-1234
- Wyndham Phoenix, 602-333-0000
When you call, be sure to ask for the STAFDA special rate:
- Sheraton: $220/night single or double; suites from $300 to $400
- Hyatt: $217/night single or double; suites from $550 to $1050
- Wyndham: $195/night single or double; suites from $225 to $696
As of 2:30 PM August 12, all three hotels have rooms still available at the above rates. However, the Wyndham warned that it has only a few rooms left at the STAFDA rate and otherwise is sold out for that time frame.
When called, a Tira International repsresentative claimed no knowledge of the email in question and described Tira International as "a wholesale travel agent" and said her company has no affiliation with STAFDA.
STAFDA likewise has never heard of Tira International.
