STAFDA’s Educational Extravaganza

The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) has several upcoming opportunities for members to educate themselves and their employees.

STAFDA is continuing the series of free educational webinars for its members. The programs offer top-notch speakers presenting timely business topics via telephone and computer.

Jeff Gusdorf, president of BSW Consulting Group and STAFDA’s Technology Consultant, takes a look at “Mobility and Technology” on March 13. He’ll discuss survey responses from this past fall and the STAFDA San Antonio Convention and expand on what gadgets members are currently using, what they’re planning on, and what the future may offer.

John Haskell, aka Dr. Revenue, will discuss “Backselling: Improving Relationships with Principals” on April 17. He’ll get to the meat of the Rep-Principal experience and help rep members develop strategies and plans for growing the relationship.

On May 15, Dr. Bart Basi, president of the Center for Legal and Tax Planning and STAFDA's tax consultant, will conduct a program on "Valuation."

Noted economist, Alan Beaulieu of the Institute for Trend Research, will offer his “Economic Update” on June 12. This complements his quarterly STAFDA Economic Advisories and Annual Convention updates while providing participants a chance to ask him questions after the program.

Mark your calendars too for the July 17 program by Steve Epner, BSW Consulting Group, on “Product Safety Management,” and the August 14 webinar by Jeff Usher, president of Reed Consulting, on “Strategic Positive Employee Relations.”

The webinars are fast-paced, content-rich programs that offer a question and answer period at the conclusion. Members can find additional details and registration links for the webinars by logging in to the members-only section of www.stafda.org. Additional webinars will be added throughout the year.

University of Industrial Distribution
STAFDA is also a sponsoring association of the University of Industrial Distribution (UID) program at Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis (IUPUI), March 5-8. STAFDA, along with several other hard-goods associations, will present the four-day management school as an intensive educational experience for members. STAFDA members receive a sizeable discount on registration fees.

Participants may choose from 30 courses (including several new classes) to create their own curriculum. Classes are taught by recognized industry experts, including Dr. Al Bates; Joe Ellers; Peter Land; Dr. Bill McCleave; Michael Marks; Jon Schreibfeder; Tim Underhill; and Dr. Mike Workman.

Attendees include CEOs, branch managers, inventory managers, purchasing agents, administrators, sales & marketing, and manufacturer personnel. UID is open to all STAFDA membership categories. For more information or to register, visit www.univid.org.
